Allow streamers (maybe just partnered or set level) request there public listing to be excluded to help combat stream sniping. Currently anyone can look up a streamer by steam id and find out where they are playing. Maybe with a verification request link the specific steam id can just come to an exlusion page and not show current or last servers played.
I think this would be huge help to the streaming community and this could even extend to say server admins since there is pages out that track when we jump on severs to catch hackers etc.
Please consider
This would be soooo useful. Ive known people to create multiple steam accounts to avoid being sniped and as soon as that id gets found, theyre not able to stream on that account anymore.
I know the stess admins have banning snipers for big streamers, so it will also help to eliviate admins workload!
100% agree with this. Hordicus if you could please review this and give your feedback if it’s possible. The stream sniping in rust is crazy and they are 100% getting the info from BM. Way too much info imo is given to the public and they should have to subscribe to see half the stuff they are able to. Just my 2 cents
Seams like a good ideia to me!
An urgent change is needed, the information that is being given in battlemetrics is causing many content creators to leave the game and as a consequence, fewer players are joining.
For example, PapoMC, a famous rapper and streamer from Argentina, tried to make a live rust with 10,000 people participating in the twitch broadcast, something very positive for the game, but after 30 minutes he had to leave due to the stalkers who followed him on different servers.
Rust streaming and consequently the health of the game is hurt every day by stream sniping so this is a very good idea
We’re experimenting with some ways of doing this right now. To do it correctly we’re probably going to have to require a registration on the site with a Steam profile so that we can verify ownership/control over a Steam64ID. A subscription is probably also going to be required since this is going to take ongoing work and maintenance to keep it going. Pricing remains to be seen as we develop the system. The initial iteration of this system will likely only affect profiles that have unique identifiers and not those that are based on names alone. Name based matching is more difficult to break and is easy enough to adapt to.
You might want to rethink charging players to opt out, that’s going to invite legal problems.
This has nothing to do with that.
Thanks @Hordicus !
what must i do for this “Streamer Server Tracking Exculsion”?
