So, it’s been explained that Steam IDs will NOT be posted on public BM pages due to privacy. This is what was specifically said. That the identifying information is considered personal information only available to admins with RCON access, not the public. I don’t agree, but fine. However, that shouldn’t exclude players from being able to SEARCH public players by their STEAMID 64. It’s incredibly unhelpful when I can’t find a player because all I have is their name and steam id, but their name brings up dozens of players. Even as an admin with RCON access, I can’t always find the player due to limitations with searching for Steam IDs if the player hasn’t happened to join my server.
If admins can search for the steam ID, then obviously the information is there. You aren’t giving OUT anyone’s steam ID if they don’t already know it, it’s just being linked to a public BM page so people can find others easier.
I agree with the OP. The steamID is universal across many games. If you don’t want to make it public when searching for a player by name, I understand and support that decision. But admins should be able to search by steam ID because it’s used often in game logs and sometimes easier to find.
I agree, and why is SteamID considered personal info when anyone can go to anyones steam profile and get their steamID.
I’m new to battlemetrics and I wonder if its possible to track a players Steam ID thus tracking the servers they are on playing Conan Exiles?
